Wolf Schäfer

Prof. Dr. Wolf Schäfer (*1941 Hamburg) studied economics at the University of Kiel and at the Free University of Berlin. He taught at various universities, including Kiel, Dortmund, Hamburg and Barkley (California). From 1981-2006 he was full professor for theoretical economics at the Helmut Schmidt University Hamburg (HSU), 1986/87 vice dean and dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at HSU.
Wolf Schäfer was Chairman of the Friedrich August von Hayek Society until 2019, since when he has been its Honorary Chairman. He is also a member of the Board of Directors of the Lorenz-von-Stein-Institute of Kiel University. He has more than 200 publications in the fields of foreign trade theory, European integration, monetary and financial economics, institutional economics and constitutional economics, public choice and Austrian economics.

Addendum 2020: On February 22, 2020 Prof. Dr. Wolf Schäfer unexpectedly passed away in Kiel.
