Prof. Dr. Thomas Mayer is the founding director of the Flossbach von Storch Research Institute, which is based in Cologne.
He previously served as the Chief Economist of Deutsche Bank Group and the Head of Deutsche Bank Research. Before that, he held various positions at Goldman Sachs, Salomon Brothers, and—before moving to the private sector—at the International Monetary Fund in Washington and the Kiel Institute for the World Economy.
Thomas Mayer holds a doctorate from Christian-Albrechts-University of Kiel, and (since 2003) he holds the CFA Charter of the CFA Institute. Since 2015 he has been an honorary professor at the University of Witten-Herdecke.
